How do you even begin to sum up in any amount of words the wedding of two of your best friends? Let me tell you, it’s difficult. Walt was one of the very first people I met in college. We were playing catch phrase on a bus headed to a retreat for freshmen and immediately clicked. Since then, we’ve been through a lot together, from late night exam studying to traveling our way through Europe, and we’ve remained friends through it all. At the end of our first year of school, Walt met Taylor at a swing dancing event. Even though he dropped her on the ground the first time they ever danced together, the rest fell perfectly into place with their relationship and Taylor became one of my close friends as well. (And the fact that they met while dancing couldn’t be more perfect since, as you’ll since in these photos, they absolutely tore up the dance floor at their wedding!) Getting to watch their relationship grow and develop over the years has been such an honor, and getting to document their big day in photos was the absolute best! I’ll admit, I definitely teared up during this one, which has never happened to me during a wedding I was photographing before. But how often do you get to photograph two of your best friends making the ultimate and most incredible commitment to each other? Not very, so it’s okay to shed a few tears.
Now for a bit about their wedding day: If you know these two, then you’ll know it was the perfect way for them to start their marriage! Not only did they dance the night away, but they simply had so much fun throughout the whole day. I’m pretty sure the entire bridal party never stopped smiling (especially the bride and groom!) And can we talk about the venue? Their wedding was held at Gabrella Manor, which is a Spanish Colonial style home built in 1938 that has been transformed into the most amazing space. Their ceremony was right before sunset, so the lighting was perfect and the temperature stayed nice and cool for this outdoor summer wedding. Oh, and where was my trusty second shooter / husband during all of this? Being the BEST MAN. So I was on my own for this one, but he sure did have a blast being on the other side of the camera for a wedding! (And if you look closely you might even notice him in the back of one of these photos taking a picture on his phone…can’t stop him from taking photos, even if he’s in the wedding party!)
All in all, Walt & Taylor, you both mean the world to me. Even though we are currently states apart (soon to be oceans), I know nothing could ever really separate us. Best wishes to you both, and I’m so excited to see where the Lord continues to lead your marriage!
