To start you out, here’s just a taste of the incredible backstory these two have: Andy is from Australia and was studying abroad in the US when Nicole walked in front of the car he was in at a stoplight one day. He was so taken by her smile and the fact that she holding a soccer ball that he became determined to find out who she was, and he sent one of his friends (who was in a class with her) on a mission to find out more about Nicole. Andy’s friend followed through and set these two up on their first date, which was followed by several more dates. But then Andy had to return home to Australia from his semester abroad, so they wrote letters back and forth for a few years, remaining friends. Eventually, Andy packed up and moved to the US, knowing that God’s plan for him included marrying Nicole (even if she didn’t know it yet) and, long story short, now they’re married!
These two chose to have their wedding at Gabrella Manor in Birmingham because of its cultural feel. It’s an old Spanish Colonial style home that they felt would be a perfect fit as a place for their families to come together from all over the world and celebrate. (Andy’s family came from Australia and a lot of Nicole’s family came from Nicaragua.) And their families definitely didn’t let any jet-lag get them down, because they sure did dance the night away! From dance circles to conga lines, the dance floor was put to great use all evening.
Andy & Nicole, you two are quite the pair. You’ve conquered the furthest of distances and have such an incredible story of pursuit and trust in God’s plan. Thanks for being so fun to photograph and, more importantly, thanks for being such amazing friends. Can’t wait to see where God’s plan leads you both to next!
