When Jin & I first met up over coffee to talk about ideas & locations for this engagement session, we immediately clicked, and I could tell how much fun it was going to be to photograph these two. But I had no idea just how much of an incredible adventure this session was going to turn into! A bit into us bouncing ideas off each other, I said something along the lines of, “okay, so this is going to sound crazy, but what if we incorporated hot air balloons somehow?” And I could immediately see the excitement on Jin’s face – turns out she had been thinking about the exact same thing the night before! So we became determined and both began to research how to make it happen. Well, we found out that that very weekend was the Sky Hot Hot Air Balloon Festival at Callaway Gardens. Perfect, right? So we all woke up in the wee hours of the morning (if you can call it morning…I’m talking 2:30 am) to drive to Georgia and get to the festival right at sunrise when the balloons were launched. And wow it was worth it. Even in the early hours of the morning, Jin & Steve were an absolute joy to be around, and the vibrant colors of the balloons rising into the air made the perfect backdrop for these two.
After taking lots of photos by the balloons (and taking a quick ride in one!), we visited the Callaway Gardens Butterfly Center, which is a beautiful glass building filled with greenery and tons of Blue Morpho Butterflies. So, long story short, saying this day was a blast would be an understatement. Jin & Steve, thanks for being so up for this adventure (and the long drive it entailed)
