Every good proposal should have a bit of adventure involved, and this one certainly does. A week before Chris proposed to Liz, I met up with him and his friend BJ to check out the spot where Chris wanted to propose. Our intention was to drive all the way up a dirt path to this spot, but that didn’t quite happen. Long story short, we had an almost-empty tank of gas and a fallen tree in our path, so we ended up hiking for quite a while up to this spot. (Which I actually thought was a blast, especially considering I was with two guys I had just met, so shout-out to Chris and BJ for being awesome hiking buddies.) Anyway, when we reached the top, I could definitely see why Chris wanted to propose in this spot. It has such an incredible view!
So, a week later, the day came for Chris to propose to Liz. They hiked up the mountain from WorldSong Camp with this spot as their destination, but Liz had no idea what was coming once they reached this spot. Meanwhile, I hid behind a rock, waiting for them to arrive so I could capture everything, and a few of their best friends hid a bit further away to surprise Liz after the big moment. Once they got to the spot, they sat overlooking the beautiful view below them for a bit, then Chris had Liz stand up and he asked her to marry him! Liz was completely surprised (afterwards, she kept asking if this person or that person knew she was getting engaged that day, and the answer was always “yes,” but luckily nobody had ruined the surprise!) After they had a few minutes to soak in their new engagement, their friends came out of hiding to surprise Liz and celebrate with them. And then they went to an even bigger celebration with lots of friends to top off the evening! To sum all of this up, Liz and Chris are adorable. I love photographing couples who so clearly show love to each other, and that definitely describes these two. Congrats, guys!
